FAQ's

Do you accept requests?

Yes this is your event so we are playing the music that you and your family, friends and guests want to hear and unless specifically requested not to, we are always happy to receive playlists in advance and your DISCOMANIA DJ will always accept requests from your guests on the night of the event.

What if I want to request a song that is not on your list, or is not in your music library?

We accept music requests outside of our music library as long as we receive them at least two weeks prior to the event. (This gives us enough time to find the songs, make sure that they are the correct recording/version, and prepare for your event with ample time for music updates and adjustments.) In addition, you are always welcome to provide us with your own customized CDs for your DISCOMANIA DJ to play at the event.

Can we meet our DJ in-person before the event?

Yes, of course! If you have referred to the DJ profiles section of our website, viewed pictures of our DJs, read their bios, and are still not sure who you want to DJ your event, call me Sara personally and ask to set up a face-to-face meeting, or even a phone meeting to get to know our DJs even better. The bottom line is that we want you to be comfortable with your DISCOMANIA DJ before your event. Sometimes, a simple phone call is all that is needed.

What are your Booking/Payment Terms?

In order to book and reserve a DISCOMANIA DJ, we must receive your signed terms and conditions contract and deposit by the deposit due date, this date will be stated in your contract. The remaining balance of payment for your booking is then due one month prior to the event date in order to confirm the event, unless another arrangement has been agreed, again please always refer to your terms and conditions.

What forms of payment do you accept?

DISCOMANIA accept cash payments, cheques, VISA, Master and Maestro cards and B.A.C.S / bank transfers.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

Each booking varies, please refer to your own individual booking terms and conditions.

What is your Overtime Policy?

Your contract will state the cost of each overtime hour. Overtime is payable directly to the DJ at your event prior to the beginning of the overtime period.

Is It Customary To Tip?

If you feel your DJ does a great job, gratuities are always greatly appreciated.

Do you carry liability insurance?

Yes! We carry a £5,000,000 liability policy and are policy is available by CLICKING HERE

Do you provide references?

References from recent clients are available any time upon request. In fact, we encourage you to check our references. We are proud of our reputation and want you to hear it first hand from any of our satisfied clients.

Which areas do you serve and do you travel?

For Discomania DJs main business focus, we serve all areas of Nottingham and the Midlands We are also willing to travel, and over the years have performed at events in Cambridge, Dover, London, Aylesbury, Biecester, Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, and Internationally, Discomania DJs have performed in France, Malta, Ibiza, Dubai, Tenerife In addition, Discomania DJs have been spotted mixing tunes as far away as Australia.

Do you have a backup DJ on call in case of emergency or sickness?

We have qualified DJ’s that are “on call” should an emergency or car accident occur, or your selected DJ become ill on or before the day of the event and in this case, the client will be notified immediately of the replacement DJ. All information gathered by the original DJ will be passed along to the replacement DJ, of course this is a last resort option and the DJ is only switched in a worst-case scenario.

Do you have a backup DJ on call in case of an emergency or equipment failure?

At Discomania, we double-check all equipment before each event and if for some reason, a DJ system is not working properly, a back up DJ system will be delivered immediatley to the event.

When do you arrive to set up an event?

At Discomania, we believe arriving 1-1.5 hours in advance is sufficient time to set up the DJ gear and prepare for the event start time. If an event is more detailed and requires more set up/ preparation time, we are happy to arrive early to ensure a successful event.

What does a Discomania DJ wear to a DJ event?

For equipment load in and breakdown, your DJ will be dressed casually. For the actual event, your DJ will change into an outfit to fit the general style of the event. For weddings and formal events, your DJ will wear formal attire (suit and tie / trouser suit). For casual events, your DJ will wear smart casual.

Do you offer Karaoke?

Yes! For our karaoke services, we have numerous great karaoke DJ references that we work with on a regular basis. We will be happy to provide a quote for karaoke services in addition to your DJ services.

What kind of music do you play?

Our vast variety of music genres (Rnb, Motown, Funk, Blues, Rock, Metal, Indy, House, Dance, Folk, Ska, Reggae, Pop, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s 2000+, Hip Hop, Break Beat, Dub Step, Grime, Drum and Bass, Techno, Northern Soul..etc…)
We have a vast library everything from Frank Sinatra to Fedde Le Grande, Madness – Madonna, Chase and Status - David Guetta, Unkle - Underworld, Oasis – Otis Reading.
Your DJ will be happy to work with you in detail to pick out specific genres of music, song titles, and artists.

What are your terms for hire of your party items?

We always request to see either a copy of a passport or driving licence, bank statement or utility bill on collection or delivery of our hire items, we will also require a deposit, this deposit varies depending on the item (s) you are hiring and can be paid by Cheque (7 days prior to the hire period commencing), VISA, MasterCard, Maestro, Delta & Switch, BACS Transfer or cash. The deposit is refundable on return / collection of the item (s) hired in the same condition they were when you hired them, we will go thru a check list when you hire the item so both parties are satisfied as to the condition of the item (s) hired on delivery / collection.
